His drug addiction, womanising, and domestic violence a reaction to a tortured life of blindness, the tragic loss of his brother at a young age, discrimination and racism, but also his own hubris and ego. He was depicted as a human being capable of greatness, but also experiencing great pain, which I believe is something we can all relate to. The film was nominated for 6 Academy Awards, and won 2 for Best Actor (Jamie Foxx) as well as best Sound Mixing.
